Ezra Miller Thinks The Flash Movie Will Start Production This Year

It has been a bumpy few weeks for The Flash. Fans were stunned to learn that director Rick Famuyiwa was leaving the project, making him the second person to do so since The Flash went public. Since the news broke, fans have been wondering if the much-anticipated film will be significantly delayed. But, if you ask Ezra Miller about the project's progress, he seems pretty optimistic about the whole shoot.

And, apparently, he thinks production on The Flash will begin before the year ends.

According to ScreenRant, the actor voiced his thoughts about the film's status during a roundtable interview where Miller was promoting Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It was there that the actor said everything is coming along quickly.

"We don't know right now [who the director will be], but I think we'll start this year, I think it's coming up pretty quick," he explained.

While Miller's words are comforting to fans, there is still the possibility that The Flash will be delayed. Famuyiwa's exit from the film means that another director must be tapped, the script must be retreated, and casting must be completed. There have even been rumors that some talent might leave the project like its director did, particularly Kiersey Clemons who is set to play Iris West.

When it comes to The Flash, it seems like the film can't escape the inevitable possibility of delays. ComicBook.com's Charlie Ridgely put it best when he said, "With the movie scheduled to release in March 2018, there doesn't seem to be time for anything get finished. A script needs to be finished, a director needs to form a vision, the cast needs to be filled, and production needs to begin. There isn't time to make all these steps a reality before the release date."

"It's all speculation at this point, it looks like The Flash is slowing down."

Still, the delay could be a minor one if there is a schedule shift at all. Sources did confirm that Famuyiwa had completed a script draft for The Flash before departing, and several of the film's co-stars have already been announced. If DC Films and Warner Bros. wished it, The Flash could be ready to run as soon as they find a new director.

However, there would be one benefit to The Flash getting delayed. If Warner Bros. chooses to push the film's release back, then they could move up Aquaman. The superhero flick is set to begin pre-production this month, so Aquaman would be more than ready to take The Flash's March 2018 debut in lieu of its July debut.
