Powerless Showrunner Wants The Flash, Aquaman Crossovers

The DC Multiverse allows for some creative license to be employed, but Warner Bros. has set strict rules when it comes to keeping their different adaptations separated. Some of that is for story reasons, others for legal and contractual reasons, but there is a bit of leeway to be had.

While speaking about Powerless remaining in its own separate universe from the other TV shows and films, showrunner Patrick Schumaker expressed a desire to bring characters like Aquaman and the Flash onto his new series.

"If they'll let us do it, I would have Jason Momoa show up next season as the Sparkletts guy," Schumaker said in an interview with CBR. "He'll never show up as Aquaman. Ben Affleck will never show up as Batman."

But due to Powerless' "high-concept nature," the multiverse can definitely play into cameos, Shumaker said.

"The idea of a multiverse, I think, gives you license to have an actor from one of the other shows show up playing somebody different," said Schumaker. "Because who's to say in this world that Barry Allen or Wally West… isn't a courier?"

Schumaker said they'll be open to actors from other media portrayals popping up on their show.

"We can't rule out that Grant Gustin could show up some other time playing somebody else, that there's a little bit of a crossover," he said.

Whether the lines between realities blur even more is a question to be answered in following seasons, as the parallel realities remain firmly entrenched on their own network.

But Powerless' comedic nature makes anything possible, and allowing the inventors employed by Wayne Securities to investigate multiversal shenanigans might result in some interesting scenarios.

With a new product idea greenlit, Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) tries to get her team inspired but can't seem to break through their obsession with Fantasy Super Hero League. Meanwhile, Van (Alan Tudyk) is on a mission to be included in the Wayne Dream Team photo. Danny Pudi, Christina Kirk and Ron Funches also star. Jennie Pierson recurs.

Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Len Goldstein, Marc Buckland and Dean Lorey are executive producers of Powerless. Buckland served as the director of the pilot. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and is based on the characters from DC.
