Hold onto your chimichangas, Deadpool fans! There is a new rumor circulating around the Internet about Cable casting, and it has got plenty of people raising eyebrows. When it comes to superhero films, there are few roles as coveted as Cable. The time-hopping mutant may not be a well-known one to casual fans, but he will be soon. The beefy character is set to star opposite of Deadpool in the mouthy merc’s next film. And, if one tweet is to be believed, it looks like Brad Pitt could be in the running for the role.

The hubbub began not long ago when the editor-in-chief of Tracking Board took to Twitter. Jeff Sneider tweeted an article from his site before adding the following comment:
“Will be interesting to see if Brad Pitt plays Cable,” he wrote. “In meantime, sounds like Sony is working on a Spider-Man sequel.”
Of course, fans are keeping in mind that the tease was dropped via tweet rather than a full-blown article, but Sneider’s connection with the industry has the Internet buzzing.
So far, Pitt has not be attached as a possible Deadpool recruit. Rumors have suggested David Harbour from Stranger Things was being looked into for the role, but 20th Century Fox is keeping quiet about the search.
If Pitt were to grab the role, fans may be taken back by his star-power, but the actor does have plenty of experience with budget films. From Inglorious Basterds to Fight Club, Pitt has an impressive resume for his acting career, but there are no superhero titles attached to the file. So, maybe that will change soon?
Whether Pitt nabs the role or not, fans will soon be put out of their misery about the what-if question. The writers of Deadpool 2 recently told ComicBook that the announcement would be coming very soon.
“It’s a short, short list,” Rhett Reese told Brandon Davis at a press event.
“An announcement will be coming very soon,” Paul Wernick added. “We’re gonna go into production in the next couple of months and cast announcements will be coming fast and furious.”
