By the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the misfit band of heroes had made all of the right mistakes to survive Ego’s wrath and save the galaxy, once again. However, in doing so, they made a certain group angry enough to create one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a post-credits sequence, Sovereign leader Ayesha was seen revealing the fact that she created the character known as Adam Warlock. However, it won’t be the Guardians next appearance in which we see Adam Warlock despite fan theories and conclusions, according to Vol. 2 director James Gunn.
With the Guardians set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War next May, they will do so without Adam Warlock.
“Warlock was never going to be in Infinity War whether or not he was in Vol. 2,” Gunn said in a tweet.
Of course, this leaves the room for fans to speculate that Warlock might pop up in the fourth Avengers film which is no longer titled Infinity War and set for release in May of 2019. However, the safe bet is that Warlock will be held until the undated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which will see a hardened Guardians roster having taken on Thanos in the upcoming pair of Avengers films.
