ComicBook.com caught up with actor Erin Richards and the cast of Gotham during San Diego Comic-Con, prying out a few details about her character when the show comes back.
“She’s going to be a completely different character again,” Richards said. “She’s coming back, she’s going to be trained by Ra’s al Ghul and she’s going to be a lot more calm and centered. Still trying to fight for power in Gotham against Penguin โฆ but with a lot more clarity this time.”
Richards said that her character will not have the “crazed energy” she had in the past and hinted toward a future team up.
“She’s going to form an alliance with Tabitha and Selina [Kyle],” Richards said. “We’re gonna have a bit of a female power base in Gotham which we’re really excited about.”
It’ll be interesting to see how Ra’s affects Barbara moving forward and how she’s able to mend her alliance with Tabitha after the whole murder thing.
The actor expressed appreciation for her character’s constant changes over the seasons, saying that the writers have a lot more freedom with Barbara.
“I feel so fortunate that Barbara has been particularly pronounced in that way,” Richards said, “because she is one of the characters we don’t really know so much about, so we have more scope with that. She can change as much as we want her to because nobody has this fixed idea of who she must become.”
Gotham Season Four is sure to be loaded with more twists and turns for Barbara when the show returns Thursday, September 21st on FOX.
Season Four of GOTHAM will witness the emergence of the criminal landscape for which Gotham City is best known, with JIM GORDON (Ben McKenzie) and HARVEY BULLOCK (Donal Logue) at the forefront of the fight against the most depraved and unhinged villains. While Gotham City fights for normalcy, a new hero will rise, as BRUCE WAYNE (David Mazouz) begins to assume responsibility for the city’s well-being.
