After a long wait, Attack on Titan is about to make the dreams of manga readers come true. The anime resumed its heart-stopping action this weekend when its 36th episode debuted with Erwin Smith leading a charge. The Survey Corps commander brought dozens of soldier into battle as the military fought of Eren’s release. The action will continue into the anime’s next episode to mark its 37th overall installment. And, thanks to a new episode preview, fans get to see Eren reunite with a monster he never expected to meet again.
In the video above, fans can watch the preview for Attack on Titan‘s next episode. The footage shows Eren as the bloodied soldier looks stunned standing before the Titan which ate his mother. The ‘Smiling Titan’ reappeared in the anime in the final moment of this week’s episode, so manga readers know what is in store for them next weekend.

If you are familiar with the Attack on Titan manga, then you know the anime is gearing up to animate its 50th chapter. The chapter, which is titled “Scream,” starts off as Eren recalls his younger years he spent with his mother and Mikasa. The two soldiers seem floored to see the Smiling Titan after the beast devoured Carla before Eren’s eyes, but they don’t get a chance to fight the beast at first. Instead, Hannes appears and fights the beast in an attempt to avenge his friend’s death.
At first, it looks like Hannes has the upper hand at battle, but that turns quickly. Eren and Mikasa watch as the Smiling Titan eats their longtime mentor, and Mikasa makes the decision to protect Eren. She gives him a soft farewell, but the boy regains his senses before Mikasa can sacrifice herself to stop the Smiling Titan. In a stunning show of power, Eren’s rage unlocks the Coordinate within him and allows him to control all the Titans surrounding them. He directs the mindless beasts to eat the Smiling Titan, and everyone comes to fear Eren’s newfound skill once it makes its debut.
