My Hero Academia

The clever, action-packed series tells the story of Izuku Midoriya as he dreams of becoming a hero. Living in a world where most people have powers, Izuku is left without any gifts, but that all changes after he risks his life to save a school bully. To do the right thing, the boy charges head-on into battle, and Izuku manages to impress one special hero who gives him his own superpower. But, when Izuku is then sent to school to hone in his gifts, he learns just how difficult being a hero can be.

One-Punch Man

When you think of parodies, you may think of Saturday Night Live or even The Onion. But, when it comes to anime, there’s no better comic book parody than One-Punch Man. Originally a web comic, the franchise was thrust into the international spotlight once it was adapted into a hugely popular anime. The overall story is a parody of superheroes and their over-powered abilities, so One-Punch Man follows a homely hero who can literally take out any villain with a single punch. Having becoming the strongest man alive, Saitama desperately tries to find adversaries that can even challenge him, and he even joins his world’s Hero Association in hopes of finding that special baddie.

Attack on Titan got its start years ago thanks to Hajime Isayama, but the franchise became a worldwide hit when its anime debuted in 2013. The gritty and unapologetically violent series takes place in a future world where man-eating Titans have taken over the world. Hidden by walls, the last vestiges of humanity lives in fear of the beasts, and one boy’s life changes when the Colossal Titan helps his croonies infiltrate the sanctum. Eren Yeager and his comrades then sign up for the military and dedicate their lives to stopping the Titans for good.
