But why is Super Saiyan God suddenly relevant again? Well, the main reason is because of it consuming a lot less energy than what Super Saiyan Blue does and in a battle royal like the Tournament of Power, a fighter must save your energy for as long as possible. However, that isn’t the only reason Goku is using the form again, in fact, there is an even greater benefit to the transformation.
As a Super Saiyan God Goku is faster than a Super Saiyan but weaker than what he is when he uses his Super Saiyan Blue form. Therefore, speed is the key reason why Goku has started to use this transformation again. Both forms have their benefits with Super Saiyan Blue giving the user more power, meanwhile, Super Saiyan God gives Goku a lot more speed.
In the time leading up to the Tournament of Power Goku discovered this and at some point figured out how two switch between the two god forms. As Goku can now switch between Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue instantly, he can use the extreme pace of his Red form and the power of his Blue power up together in battle. The two transformation when mixed together create the ultimate combination, without using up a great deal of energy in the meantime as well.
