One such detail came from actress Sigourney Weaver, who seemingly confirmed that she will return to reprise her role as Dana Barrett, saying that she had one condition — which was met before she even asked.
Sigourney Weaver says that during one relatively recent conversation with Ivan Reitman, “I said, I have one condition want my son Oscar [from Ghostbusters II] to be a Ghostbuster, and he said, ‘We’ve already done that.’”

Oscar, who was an infant in Ghostbusters II, would likely be recast with somebody famous, since the twins who played the baby in the previous installment aren’t working in Hollywood anymore. Names like Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen have, at various points in the development, been bandied about as one of the “new” Ghostbusters, so it’s possible that those actors were being eyed for Oscar all along.
The film is in a constant state of “almost ready” to go into production, but shortly before the death of co-writer and actor Harold Ramis earlier this year, there was a flurry of movement around the movie, with casting rumors coming heavy and reports that they wanted to get it in front of the cameras before the end of 2014 for the original fim’s 30th (and Ghostbusters II‘s 25th) anniversary.
