The enormous Tuesday box office is the largest non-weekend opening ever at the Chinese box office and the largest in Marvel’s history there. The weekend (and overall) record belongs to Furious 7, which took in a massive $68.8 million dollars on it’s first day in China. Age of Ultron‘s opening day is nearly double that of Iron Man 3‘s debut and more than Avengers first two days combined in the same market.
Avengers: Age of Ultron has now grossed $932.2 million dollars worldwide, keeping it’s fast pace towards $1 billion. $607.4 million of that total to date has come internationally.
This weekend, Avengers: Age of Ultron will see it’s toughest competition yet with both Mad Max: Fury Road and Pitch Perfect 2 hitting theaters. Fury Road is currently sitting with widely positive critical acclaim at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, while Pitch Perfect 2 is still fresh at 72%.
