When it comes to anime, studios are more interested than ever in reviving nostalgic franchise from the past in whichever ways they can. Toei Animation gave Sailor Moon a makeover a couple years back when it released Sailor Moon Crystal, a series which rebooted the original anime. The studio also revived the Digimon franchise as a special 15th anniversary gift to fans with a film series that follows the DigiDestined during their teenage years. Now, the fourth film of the Digimon Adventure tri. series has unveiled its long-awaited teaser trailer, and it will bring anime fans down memory lane.

Not long ago, the Youtube channel for the ticketing app Eiga Land premiered the 2-minute clip to fans. The promo is for the next Digimon Adventure tri. film, Loss.

If you’re wondering when the film debuts, then you still have a bit to wait. The fourth movie will not hit Japan until February 25, 2017 before its home video sips on April 4. For Western fans, it could be up to a year or more until a physical copy of Digimon Adventure tri. becomes available, but the film will be available on sites such as Crunchyroll and Hulu before then.

For those of you unfamiliar with Digimon Adventure tri., then you should know the new series is a direct continuation of the original Digimon anime. Entitled ‘tri.,’ the project is comprised of a six-part film series which follows Taichi Yagami years after the Digimon series ended. The nostalgic throwback had sent fans all over the world into a tizzy, prompting both fans and critics to applaud the recent release.

When you check out the first Digimon Adventure tri. film, you should notice many familiar faces. The series brings back lead characters like Yamato, Sora, Izzy, and others as they reunited with their old Digimon partners. The English dub of the series also has several original voice actors reprising their destined roles.

If you need a refresher on the story of Digimon Adventure tri. so far, then rejoice! The film’s website released a plot summary of the movie which can be read below! But, be warned – a few minor spoilers may lie ahead if you are not caught up with the series.

“Following Meicoomon’s rampage and the Reboot, Tai (Taichi) and the others leave behind a distressed Meiko and head to the Digital World. But the partner Digimon that they’ve reunited with have lost their memories. They once again try to forge new connections, but only Biyomon is wary, telling her partner Sora that she doesn’t know anything about the past. While Sora normally thinks of others even before herself, she now has distrust in her heart. As Sora stands heartbroken, Tai and Matt (Yamato) cannot find the words to help her.

A tearful Meicoomon appears and disappears again. For some reason, she has retained past memories, and is searching for Meiko. Upon seeing Meicoomon, the kids resolve to journey through the Digital World to save her, but a man with the Dark Masters at his command stands in their way.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Nishijima receives a notice that Himekawa has disappeared. When he investigates, he learns that she has had a hidden goal behind all her actions thus far.”
