Superman and Batman are known as the World’s Finest team for good reason. The two of them have some massive differences but are complimentary, fitting together better than most realize. Both of them lost their families, both were raised by loving foster parents who taught them to be amazing people, and decided to use their skills and abilities to help people. Most of the time, when we think of them, we think of their differences. Superman is the smiling leader of the superhero community, a hero who is at home in the light. Batman, on the other hand, is the grimacing avatar of darkness, the hero that everyone respects but doesn’t want to spent all that much time with. Their differences, in many ways, have helped their relationship reach levels that no one would have thought possible.

Superman and Batman deal with a lot of the same things, but do so in different ways. There are some things that the Dark Knight is the best at, easily overshadowing the Last Son of Krypton. However, there are other things that Kal-El is much better at and they have nothing do with his powers. Superman does these five things better than Batman, and some of them might surprise you.

5) Maintaining Relationships

Superman has the greatest adventures ever, rising to the top of the superhero community. Supes is a part of the Trinity with Batman and Wonder Woman, forming the nucleus of the Justice League. Everyone looks up to all of them, but they also know something important about the Trinity – Superman is the one who is actually going to be friendly all of the time. One of Batman’s biggest problems is the gruff way he deals with everyone. Even Batman’s closest friends have experienced his disdain, meaning that many of his relationships are honestly kind of strained. Basically, unless you’re in the Bat-Family, Bats isn’t going to treat you with much respect and is just as likely to sass you as he is to he is to say anything to you. He’s known for his short temper and this has made his relationships with others difficult. However, Superman doesn’t have that problem. He’s the kind of person who can make anyone feel like the most important person in the world and this has helped him maintain relationships in ways that Batman just can’t.

4) Is a Master of Teamwork

Batman isn’t thought of as a great team player, but this isn’t actually the case. The Dark Knight is known for working alone, but he’s also created the Bat-Family, one of the greatest assemblages of heroes ever, and has been a member of numerous teams. That’s before we get to how well he fights alongside the Robins or even Superman. Bats is honestly pretty great at teamwork; he might be grumpy, but he’s going to follow orders and help his compatriots. However, when it comes right down to it, Superman is much better at teamwork than Bats is. It all comes down to their differences in how they treat people. Supes respects everyone until they give him a reason not to and is much more of a people person. You don’t have to worry about him getting a bad attitude or thinking that your plan isn’t worth implementing. Supes works better with others, his better attitude making him more open to collaboration.

3) Intimidation

When it comes to intimidation, Batman might seem to be the top of the food chain. The Dark Knight is someone who has spent years cultivating an aura of menace. His whole mission was based on the idea of criminals being a cowardly and superstitious lot, deciding to use fear as his greatest weapon. Everything about him screams intimidating and the scariest part is that he can back up everything he says. However, when it comes right down to it, Superman is way more intimidating because of what he can do. While everyone “knows” that Superman isn’t going to snap and use his heat vision to cut off your limbs if you don’t give him the info he needs, for example, there’s still the very real fear that he’s going to. Superman is not the scariest person ever, but he also is, if that makes sense. He seems like a nice person, but he knows how to use the fear of his powers to frighten enemies.

2) He’s a Better Leader

The Justice League has had some amazing leaders, with Superman often considered one of the best. Now, this doesn’t mean that Batman is a bad leader; he’s led the Outsiders and the Bat-Family, and has long been one of the unofficial leaders of the League. While people don’t always like to deal with his attitude, they know that putting the Dark Knight in command is going to lead to victory. However, when it comes right down to it, as successful as Bats is and as great as he is at planning, Superman is vastly superior as a leader. He deals with his teammates better, trusts them more, and is able to be just about everywhere at once. His super senses give him greater tactical awareness that allows him to understand the whole situation on the battlefield better than Batman ever could. Superman is a people person and that also makes a huge difference. Everyone knows that Bats is a great leader, but Supes has him beat by several country miles.

1) He’s the Greater Inspiration

Batman doesn’t really get the credit for how inspirational of a hero he is, mostly because he’s not friendliest person out there. There’s the Bat-Family, obviously, each member in some way inspired by the Dark Knight and his mission. Various heroes across the superhero community look up to the Caped Crusader; they might now always like him as a person but they want to be the same kind of hero that he is. On top of that, there’s all the fear he’s inspired in criminals and supervillains. However, even taking all of that into account, Superman is still the greater inspiration. He has the Superman family, an entire group of heroes who inspired by him and joined his mission. He’s the one hero that everyone wants to be like. He’s the exemplar, the kind of person that any good person would want to be like. There was already a superhero community before Supes showed up, but he quickly became the one that everyone wanted to be. He’s the superhero, the most inspiring person to ever put on a cape and some tights.
