Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot's Israeli heritage has mostly been a point of celebration since she took on the iconic role, but there is a group that sees it in a much different light. So far though it doesn't seem that those opinions are having an effect on the movie.
As previously reported, a Lebanese group has been campaigning to ban Wonder Woman from local theaters citing the fact that Gadot is Israeli and a former member of the military there. She's also supported Israel's actions involving Gaza, which is always a hot-button issue in the region.
Despite the ruckus, no official request has been submitted to Lebanon's Ministry of Economy (via Deadline), which would then require gathering together a six-member committee to review the proposal. The film is currently scheduled to play in 15 theaters across Lebanon, and despite the group's protests, there isn't universal support of their stance in the region. It's unlikely those screenings will change.
Wonder Woman currently has a 4.11 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, and you can submit your rating here.
