Joss Whedon's in-development Batgirl movie for DC Films can add Lindsay Lohan to the list of actresses who want to play the titular heroine.

The Parent Trap star started a Twitter campaign this weekend to let Whedon know that she would like to star in the upcoming Batgirl movie, asking fans to re-tweet a message and tag the director about her intentions.

"RT if I should star in the new BATGIRL movie and everyone tell @joss," Lohan wrote.

While no casting decisions have been announced for the film at this point, there have been no shortage of names making the rounds as either fan casts or even rumored short lists for the role. and even a few who have said that they'd be interested in the role, including Pitch Perfect star Hailee Steinfeld. This also isn't the first time that Lohan -- whose red hair at least gives her an edge in the appearance department, matching Barbara Gordon's traditionally flame-hued locks -- has taken to social media to campaign for movie roles that interest her. Last year Lohan made it clear that she would be a good choice for a live-action The Little Mermaid remake, posting a side-by-side photo of herself and Ariel on Instagram -- though she also indicated that she wanted Bill Condon, who directed the Beauty and the Beast live-action film, to direct her in it.

Right now, though, there aren't too many updates on the Batgirl project that would indicate the film is anywhere near finding its star. Whedon was originally brought on by Warner Bros. for Batgirl, but ended up shifting his focus to Justice League following Zack Snyder's unexpected departure from the film due to personal reasons. And while rumors recently surfaced that Whedon was no longer going to direct Batgirl due to recent negative press, that does not appear to be the case. EW reported in November that sources close to the film's production is still on the project and is still working on the script, something that he touched on as far back as April 2017 when he also talked a bit about his casting process for the iconic character.

"I'm creating this character," Whedon said. "I'm in a dialogue with her. We'll see who joins that later on... I think this is somewhere you go and find Batgirl and then you cast her... I'm not against movie stars. They're great, but you need somebody who's going to be just right. And, in a situation like this, the name carries a lot of weight."

Batgirl presently does not have an anticipated release date. Other upcoming DC Films include Aquaman on December 21, 2018, Shazam on April 5, 2019; Wonder Woman 2 on November 1st, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020.
