Another day, another drama. With Wonder Woman set to hit theaters in just a few days, the Internet is rearing its head to respond to one theater and its plans to host a special screening of the show. Alamo Drafthouse announced not long ago that it would have screenings of the movie which were for women only. While many have celebrated the special event, other netizens have clapped back at the idea. And, as expected, social media has taken off defending Alamo Drafthouse from its critics.

Seriously, some of the responses are brutal.

“The most iconic superheroine in comic book history finally has her own movie, and what better way to celebrate than with an all-female screening?” the theater wrote to fans in its announcement for the screenings.

“Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying “No Guys Allowed” for one special night at the Alamo Ritz. And when we say “People Who Identify As Women Only,” we mean it. Everyone working at this screening — venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team — will be female. So lasso your geeky girlfriends together and grab your tickets to this celebration of one of the most enduring and inspiring characters ever created.”

In a statement released to ComicBook, Alamo Drafthouse says Wonder Woman is a film meant to audiences of all genders; However, it does want to give a special salute to the icon’s longtime commitment to female empowerment. “Obviously, Alamo Drafthouse recognizes ‘Wonder Woman’ is a film for all audiences, but our special women-only screenings may have created confusion – we want everybody to see this film.”

Shortly after the release went live, some naysayers began to push back against the announcement, but Alama Drafthouse was fast to defend itself with quippy remarks. Twitter and other social media sites lit up in defense of the theater chain. And, if you want to check out some of the most fierce reactions so far, you should check out the slides below:
