While negative reviews for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice have apparently not materially affected morale on the set of director Zack Snyder’s follow-up Justice League, franchise actor Amy Adams (who plays Lois Lane in the films) expressed her sympathies for the filmmaker during a recent interview.

“You want there to be respect for the films you do, and when that doesn’t happen, it does hit a soft spot for everyone involved,” Adams told Variety‘s Playback Podcast, which you can stream below. “I just felt for Zack. Zack’s like the nicest person ever, and to see him kind of talked about like that was really hard for me, because he’s really such a respectful director.”
That’s a common thread that seems to run through a lot of the actor interviews about DC’s movies. Both Snyder and Suicide Squad director David Ayer seem to have created an atmosphere where their actors like and respect them in spite of reviews.

For instance, just yesterday Scott Eastwood was talking about his desire to work on a potential Suicide Squad sequel, but he didn’t talk about story, or character, or love for the comics: it was director David Ayer that was the attraction.
During the interview with Variety, Adams also talked about working with legendary directors Mike Nichols and Steven Spielberg earlier in her career, and the ways that directors have helped her to get “out of my head and into my heart” (in the case of Spielberg) particularly.
“Everyone’s really excited,” Adams said of the Justice League set, noting that “It’s a totally different film” than Snyder’s previous DC Extended Universe outings.
She also said that while she hasn’t yet watched the Ultimate Edition of Batman V Superman, her husband has, and that he was angry the studio had released the theatrical cut rather than the improved, longer version.
Justice League will be the fifth film released in the DC Extended Universe, and will be released November 4, 2017. Adams will reprise her role as Lois Lane in the film, and presumably in the rumored Man of Steel sequel, as well. No word yet on whether she will appear in the second Justice League film, scheduled for June 2019.
