Godzilla is often seen rampaging through Tokyo, and Hollywood adaptations of the character have brought him to the United States, but what happens when the giant green monster attacks Gotham City? That’s the scenario that YouTube user veetov imagined in his 3D animated short “Batman vs Godzilla.”

The short uses models inspired by the most recent incarnations of the two pop culture icons, the Godzilla from 2014’s Legendary Pictures Godzilla movie and the Batman played by Ben Affleck from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The video begins with Godzilla leveling Gotham City. Batman summons the Batwing to battle the monster, but Godzilla destroys the aircraft. Batman tries to challenge the monster on foot, using the Bat-signal to draw Godzilla’s attention. However, things don’t go Batman’s way and he’s soon unconscious. The animation ends with the surprise appearance of Superman (also modeled after his appearance in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, as played by Henry Cavill).
Legendary’s Godzilla will next appear in Godzilla 2, which has a planned 2019 release date. He will then take on King Kong in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020 as the two film series form a shared Godzilla-Kong cinematic universe.
Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman will both appear in the upcoming Justice League movie, in which Batman assembles the titular superhero team in the wake of Superman’s death at the hands of Doomsday in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Batman will also appear in DC Films’ Suicide Squad movie.
