While no trailer has yet been released online for Powerless, the forthcoming NBC sitcom set in the world of DC Comics, it was screened today at their upfront presentation, and IGN was there to share a description.

The main joke of the series seems to be playing the larger-than-life perception of superheroes against the everyday reality of living in the DC Universe, where your train being derailed by a battle between Crimson Fox and an unknown supervillain is little more than an inconvenience. The trailer centers primarily around Emily (Vanessa Hudgens), an insurance adjuster who deals with the fallout from super-battles.

We've got everyday troubles -- a jerk of a boss (Alan Tudyk) who wants them to deny more claims -- and less-everyday ones, like determining whether a demigod like Wonder Woman can be denied as an "act of god" in insurance terms. And there's plenty of jokes about bringing superheroes into the real world, from magazine covers featuring Hawkman to one of Emily's co-workers fantasizing about another Justice Leaguer.

You can see the more in-depth description at the link above, but tonally, it feels a little more edgy than the average NBC single-camera sitcom, and certainly a lot lighter than anything DC has produced for television since Batman '66.
