The CW has released the first official images of Lynda Carter in Supergirl.
The Wonder Woman star will play President of the United States Olivia Marsdin on the series, which makes its season two debut tonight with its first-ever new episode on The CW.
Carter, who has remained closely connected with her role as Wonder Woman over the years, has long been rumored to make an appearance. In the season premiere, there was a throwaway reference to the President being a woman, while in interviews during the second half of the season, Supergirl showrunner Andrew Kresiberg revealed that the producers had decided on Carter for the role, but that she would not appear on the series until season two.
Above, you can see a behind-the-scenes image of President Marsdin with Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). In the attached image gallery, you can check that one and a number of other photos featuring Carter in full size.
"We always wanted a female President; we talked about that before we talked about Lynda Carter," executive producer Ali Adler told ComicBook.com. "When we started talking about that role, we talked about women that inspired us in the room, but we really only discussed Lynda Carter for the role. We're so gratified that she was able to work her schedule out. Last year she couldn't, and we were so disappointed that instead of casting someone else, we waited to have Lynda join us."
You can check out the official episode synopsis below.
LYNDA CARTER ("WONDER WOMAN") LANDS IN NATIONAL CITY AS PRESIDENT OLIVIA MARSDIN — An attack is made on the President (guest star Lynda Carter) as hot-button, alien vs. human rights issues heat up in National City. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the DEO are assigned to protect the President and bring in the responsible party. Alex (Chyler Leigh) teams up with Detective Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) to investigate the case while Kara searches for a recently escaped Mon-El (Chris Wood), who she fears may be the alien behind the assault. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Jessica Queller and Derek Simon (#203). Original airdate 10/24/2016.
