Warner Bros. has been a bit cagey on anything Green Lantern related, including the casting of the most well known Lantern Hal Jordan. Rumors have persisted that actor Armie Hammer is in serious talks to play the iconic role, and they continue to build steam in part because of Hammer’s reaction to them.

Take for instance his latest reaction to Twitter user @deadpoool, who said “[slips @armiehammer 50 scotch eggs] …ARE YOU HAL JORDAN OR NOT?!” You might recognize the reference from Paul Newman’s Cool Hand Luke, but that didn’t compel Hammer to give a definitive yes or no. Instead, he said, “*starts sweating* ummm….”
This follows a report that there will be a Green Lantern cameo in Justice League (which currently holds a 4.06 out of 5 on ComicBook.com’s anticipation rankings), but it doesn’t look to be Hal or any of the earth based Lanterns. The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez recently said “Yes. There is a Green Lantern in Justice League. I forgot how to pronounce him. I forgot the name of the Green Lantern in Justice League, so we’ll see. Hey, maybe by that time they get to cast Hal Jordan and next we’ll throw him in there too who knows.”
This is probably not the last time Hammer will tease the fans, but hopefully, there is an official casting announcement for the role soon.
In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroesโBatman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flashโit may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarรกn Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
