The film about the anti-heroes proved to be a massive spectacle while introducing some of DC’s worst criminals to the big screen.

Despite negative criticism, the fans (and their money) have spoken. With numbers this big, we can assume that there will be a Suicide Squad sequel headed our way in the next few years. Most likely shoved somewhere into the current timeline of upcoming DCEU films.

While Enchantress and her ancient brother Incubus were a rather surprising and obscure choice for the main big bads, they successfully introduced a new thematic element into the DCEU – the supernatural.

We have no details if the sequel would build on the same magical theme, incorporate into the rest of the DCEU, or introduce an entirely new Suicide Squad centric villain, but we do have a few fun ideas.

With that said, let’s get into 5 villains we’d like to see in Suicide Squad 2…

Granny Goodness

ย

Granny Goodness (created by Jack Kirby), the powerful leader of the Female Furies, was chosen by Darkseidย himself to train and lead the lady-driven task force from Apokolips. She has had frequent run-ins with the Justice League and Harley Quinn.

Now, if the Suicide Squad sequel ties into the the rest of the DCEUย films, we can take an educated guess that Darkseidย and his entire empire would be involved. Considering Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice confirmed that he was coming (remember Lex Luthorย crazy talking in his jail cell) and the inclusion of Steppenwolfย revealed, the fierce Female Furies would fall in line with the overarching DCEUย storyline.ย

Amanda Waller is all about playing dirty little tricks to protect the entire world from huge threats, as long as the government doesn’t find out. So, its easy to imagine her sending the Suicide Squad on a covertย ops mission to take down the Female Furies if and when they reign down on Earth.ย

Meanwhile, the upcoming film Justice League, will focus Batfleckย recruiting other metahumansย to prepare for a big battle that he believesย is coming. It would be easy to tie the anti-hero Suicide Squad into this massive threat by sending them to face off with whatever Darksiedย may be sending our way.

She might look like an old defenseless lady, but Granny Goodness is a New God, who once fused herself with the Mother Boxes (which we saw in BvS) to create the ultimate Grandmother Box.ย

Basilisk

ย

Basilisk is an active terrorist cell, led by Lord Coil, that was created in response to powerful metahumansย like Superman, who they feared could take over the world.ย

Members of Basilisk believe that there is a war coming, between normal humans and metahumans, and they must destroy all metahumans. They apparently draw their super powers from a mythical snake (again sticking with the supernatural theme here).

Basilisk is a reoccuringย threat in The New 52 series, featured in Suicide Squad Vol. 2: Basilisk Rising. Amanda Waller has sent the squad to take down Basilisk quite a few times, including when the terror cell used a chemical weapon to gruesomely murder innocent people at a sports stadium.ย

Mad Dog, a prominent member of Basilisk is a hitmanย who’s been sent after members of the Suicide Squad multiple times, whileย Dr.ย Elisha Visyakย is a scientist who develops chemical weapons and viruses in hopes of defeating metahumans.ย

Because Basilisk is clearly a threat to national security, has often battled the Suicide Squad in multiple storylines, and is made up of cool characters who would make for some fun big-screen live-action, we’d love to see them as the big bad in Suicide Squad 2. Also, the magic thing.ย

Kobra

Staying in line the possible continuation of the supernatural theme we saw in the first Suicide Squad, Kobraย (created by Jack Kirby) and his crazy religious cult would make for quite a powerful big bad in the sequel.ย

The originalย Kobraย Cult believed that one man of a set of twins (Jefferyย Burr) would one day lead them to greatness and bring about the Age of Chaos – in which the world would be wiped of people and replaced by the divine. This right here would make for another great battle between the two teams.ย

Kobra, leader of the Kobraย cult, originated as Jeffrey Burr, who was kidnapped by the cult and raised to be their leader. He was aย military tactician with the goal of world domination with unlimited resources and tens of thousands of followers. They eventually set up camp in America with weapon aresenals, chemical labs, and an entire army – posing a very real threat to the country.

Suicide Squad memberย Ravanย (also introduced in 1987 and former Jihad member) was a main foe ofย Kobra.ย Ravanย frequently had run-ins withย Kobraย and his task force, and decided to bring along the rest of the squad who had the financial backing of the American government.

The main goal of the Suicide Squad was to go up against terrorist teams that posed a threat to America, the Kobraย Cult is still a major threat and still plays a role in DC Rebirth. So it wouldn’t be that far off to see Kobraย and his gang show up in Suicide Squad 2.ย

Joker

This one might be a bit controversial, seeing as the Joker wasn’t really presented in a manner that is faithful to the comics. He sort of came off like a love-sick puppy dog, trying to reunite with his girl Harley Quinn over and over again.

But, how their relationship was changed for the film is an entirely different story that we don’t need to get into right now.

You can’t deny that Jared Leto’sย Joker wasn’t given enough screen time, or any time at all really. After all the hype, we didn’t even get to see him do much at all, especially with most of his scenes being cut.ย

Needless to say, the guy deserves another chance and the best way to portray him in Suicide Squad 2 is for the psychotic evil villain that he is, minus the baby clothes and the crying.

At the end of the film, he finally shows up with his gangster goons, blows up Belle Reveย and rescues Harley. It’s possible that may have been done purposely to set up events for the next film, and not just a common trope.

Either way, we want to see The Joker in a true villain role in the sequel, even if he isn’t the main big bad.

Jihad

Jihad, another terrorist for hire group, showed up in the very first issue of Suicide Squad comics in 1987 and was prominent in the Trial By Fire storyline.

The super-powered teamย was created and guided by Qurac’s President Marloย (a very powerful leader) and was commissioned to assassinate the President of the United States as their first assignment. Some of the teams members were bio-engineered with the help of traitorous Americans.ย

Jihad was later renamed as The Onslaught, but consisted of the same members with the same mission – threaten national security in major hubs like Manhattan.ย

“The original members included teleporterย Chimera, digital killerย Djinn, speedsterย Jaculi, monsterย Manticore, Thuggee assassinย Ravan, and their leaderย Rustam.”

Waller sent the Skwad after The Onslaught numerous times, making the two teams a perfect match-up in both size and strength for Suicide Squad 2.ย
