Ever since reports came out about Henry Cavill’s conflicting schedules for the production of Mission: Impossible 6 and reshoots for Justice League, fans have been in a frenzy. Why? Well, it all has to do with a mustache.
Cavill grew out a mustache for his role in Mission: Impossible 6, and the actor is not allowed to shave that mustache while that film is in production. To accommodate, Warner Bros. will use special effects to take out Cavill’s mustache of the new Justice League footage.
This has caused quite a stir among the internet as many fans clamor for WB to leave the mustache alone. Professional comic artists have even taken to providing their own renditions of a mustached Superman.
All in all, it’s provided some hilarious responses among people who believe the Man of Steel should have some facial hair in the new movie. While Warner Bros. is unlikely to succumb to the fan pressure, the fans have made some amazing images.
Cavill himself even got in on the action with a good Instagram post:
Dear followers, it is time to finally set the record straight in this moustache fiasco. Pictured above, is not a set on MI6 but is in fact the latest in a series of weapons being designed by Warner Bros and Paramount Studios to combat the entity known as "Henry Cavill's Moustache". There has been no discussion over whether to shave or not to shave for the JL reshoots, simply a relentless campaign to put an end to the seemingly inexorable conquest of this despotic 'stache. It is not a question of IF I should shave - it is a question of how can we possibly be victorious against such a beast without bringing our own doom raining down upon us. #MI6 #JusticeLeague #HenryCavillsMoustache #HopeIsAllWeHaveLeft #MoustacheImpossible
