The Flash has already come and gone with its Season 3 premiere, but fans haven't been left behind by the speedster. The CW has released their sneak preview for next week's episode, and it promises a rather intriguing paradox.

If the title "Paradox" sounds familiar to you, then it may be because you're a DC Comics diehard. An animated feature film titled Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox might ring bells for some of you as that movie loosely adapted the same story that The CW is now.

That arc is none other than Flashpoint, a five-issue miniseries which debuted in 2011. The storyline follows Barry Allen - or The Flash - after he's traveled back in time to save his mother from being murdered by Reverse-Flash. While he succeeds in doing so, Barry ends up creating a butterfly effect which fundamentally changes the DC Universe. In the comics, the hero's decision effects some of the world's most beloved superheroes, but The CW has elected to narrow the scope of Flashpoint to its series of comic-based shows.

After tonight's episode, you've already got a taste of how much Barry altered the world around him - and the next episode will show him dealing with the consequences of his actions.

You can check out the full synopsis of "Paradox" below:

"Barry (Grant Gustin) realizes the effects from Flashpoint are much greater than he thought. Meanwhile, Barry meets new co-worker Julian Albert (Tom Felton) and is surprised by Julian's immediate disdain for Barry."

Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing.

For all you Harry Potter fans, you likely noticed a familiar name hidden within the description of "Paradox." Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, will join The Flash next week to play Julian Albert. The character is described as a new rival who Barry must deal with at work, and fans are already speculating that Julian has less than pure motives.

So, naturally, fans can expect Cisco Ramon to make plenty of Wizarding World puns in the coming weeks.

If you missed "Flashpoint," then you can check out the episode and then read up on our recap of the episode by ComicBook.com's Russ Burlingame.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT. "Paradox" will debut on Tuesday, October 11.
