After an impressive opening weekend in movie theaters all across the globe, its safe to say that Wonder Woman is a smashing success.

Director Patty Jenkins knocked her first attempt at a superhero film out of the park by telling the origin story of Princess Diana of Themyscira, deftly played by Gal Gadot. The film made over $200 in its opening weekend alone. The momentum is likely to carry the film through the week, where it already made another $11 million on Monday.

Jenkins expressed gratitude for the immense positive response with a post to social media, thanking the fans who propelled Wonder Woman to become the #1 movie at the box office.

The director was always confident in the film, expressing her eagerness for people to finally see how great it was after the rumors of a plagued production. But Wonder Woman received an A CinemaScore rating and is Certified Fresh by Rotten Tomatoes.
