It's 2018 now and it's time to start looking at future changes in the world of League of Legends. New champions to nerf, new mechanics to tweak, and much more. In a recent addition to the Dev Corner, players were given some insight as to what's around the corner in update 8.1.

Before the team broke it down, they did provide an explanation for while 8.1 was locked previously, and what that means for 8.2 on the way:

"We've been back at work this week and have been looking at what should be in the upcoming patches. Our focus is particularly on what should now be a priority based off how the game played out over the break.

Because of the way patch development works (patches need a lot of testing) patch 8.1 got locked last year just before we went on holiday. That means that, with a few possible exceptions as below, 8.1 will be the same as what was on PBE over the break. Adding stuff this late in the process has the same risk of serious bugs and balance issues as a micropatch/hotfix. We need to be really conservative with both how much we change and the type of things we change as a result. That means we're mainly working on a bunch of stuff for 8.2."

As far as PBE goes, there are a few tweaks expected that never made their way on PBE, including a few high impact bug fixes - like the one with Galio W Shield, and a possible Zoe nerf and Sona buff. With Zoe getting a lot of player hate recently, we're sure tons of players are stoked to see that potential change come to fruition.

There are much more champion alterations slated in coming weeks, but these are the immediate changes that players can expect, including a significant reduction in the amount of time particular Kleptomancy gained items sell for.
