He's been one of the most anticipated characters in the Overwatch universe, and even though Terry Crews is not voicing the bad-ass brawler, that isn't stopping people from wondering when he will arrive. Good news – it won't be long.

Blizzard has confirmed today via a new release video that Doomfist will make his debut in the public version of Overwatch for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 starting next Tuesday, July 27th – and yes, he'll be free of charge.

The character will feature five main abilities to choose from, including a short-range hand cannon, an uppercut move that can be used in the air, a ground pound move to nail enemies from above, a rocket punch that can send players flying into walls, and the ultimate move, where he can jump into the sky and come crashing down with a glorious thud, destroying everything within a small radius. He'll also have a temporary shield that will be able to lend a hand for a little bit if he's being fired upon.

This 45-year old mercenary is quite the smart cookie on the battlefield, and isn't afraid to show his charismatic side as well, but you don't want to get too close, as his martial arts move may prove fatal. He's an ideal offense character that some players won't be able to get enough of – but the question is, how powerful will he be against the likes of other opponents, such as D.Va and Hanzo?

The behind-the-scenes video above discusses the creation of Doomfist, as well as what he'll bring to the table with his debut next week. There's obviously a lot of excitement behind his arrival, especially considering how much the community has been enjoying his presence in the PTR over the previous few weeks. And we'll keep you informed on any good strategies you can use with him in an attempt to continue the battle working in your favor – even if that means an occasional ground pound or two to even the odds. Hey, he's Doomfist. He can do as he damn well pleases.

Overwatch is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
