Gears of War 4's Biggest Update Ever Drops Soon for Free, Free Trial on the Way

The Coalition community manager Liam Ashely recently took to the Xbox Wire to share some huge news about a huge free update coming soon to Gears of War 4. This is the biggest update in the history of the game, and it hits on June 6. Get a sneak peak of everything coming your way in the trailer above.

It's Horde mode which is getting the biggest overhaul in this update, with the arrival of Rise of the Horde. Each class will have three new horde skills (for a total of 15 new skills). Also new are Level 6 skills, new loot drops, tuning changes, and new difficulty levels.

"The new 15 skills arriving in Rise of the Horde focus on providing new ways to specialize the way you play your Class. The Scout has new abilities like Cloak to turn invisible in their quest to pick up Power, while Heavies can take the Berserker and Last Stand skills to deal more and take more damage with Heavy Weapons as they get lower on health.

"Snipers can take Magic Bullet to get increasing headshot damage bonus rewards, Soldiers can use Siphon to earn more Power for Grenade plant kills, and Engineers can resupply their comrades with ammo when their Fortifications kill enemies with the new Salvage skill."

The full update, which you can find at the Xbox Wire link above, goes on to details additional changes to skills as well as boss rewards. Basically Wave 30, 40, and 50 bosses will all drop a random Horde Skill, and on higher difficulties the chance of getting a rare drop is much greater.

There's a free Gears of War 4 trial on the way for new players as well. "From June 9th – 15th, we're offering a Trial version of Gears of War 4 to download for free! This full game trial will offer 10 hours of free play in Gears of War 4, including the entire first Act of the Campaign plus full – yes, full! – access to the Horde and Versus experiences. That means you can try out Rise of the Horde on top of all the great content that exists in Gears of War 4 today!"

On top of it all, two new maps are being added into the rotation. Avalanche will make its debut for the first time since Gears of War 2, and the Gears of War 3 classic Rust Lung is coming as well. This all drops next Tuesday, so be sure to hop online and get in some practice if you're a bit rusty.
