Yesterday Ed Boon shared a dark, obscured, mysterious image on Twitter to tease Injustice 2‘s impending DLC fighter update, Fighter Pack 2. What exactly is Boon teasing?

Since the image went live it’s been analyzed to hell and back, mainly because of the giant shadowy figure you see in the forefront here:

At first glance, it’s hard to see much of anything. We took the image and brightened things up right away, and now we’re starting to see some shapes. There seems to be a hulking figure in the forefront, and this has sent fans into a dizzying spiral of hype and speculation.
Who could this be? Whoever it is, they have to be big. A popular guess among fans right now is Solomon Grundy, since he’s typically pictured with a few blades or swords sticking out of his back or shoulders. Spawn is another possibility. Boon has teased Spawn before as a potential DLC candidate, and that’s another large and potentially misshapen body.
If we enhance the image even further, though, some of our guesses melt away, and new ones appear. Take a look at this.
Whose Spear Is This?
With a few more tweaks to brightness and contrast, what we assumed was a huge character’s shoulder appears to be nothing more than rubble. It looks like we have another giant slab of concrete with steel reinforcements protruding from the side. But now we see something new.
Notice the spear over to the right. This may serve as another clue. Even though Black Manta typically fights using a trident, we couldn’t help but think of him as soon as we saw this weapon embedded in the rubble. Black Manta seems like a sure thing at this point, though, and it’s likely that this spear is teasing someone else.
You guys may not remember, but when the first Fighter Pack was teased, Wonder Woman’s sword and shield could be seen in the image. It’s possible that this spear is related to Wonder Woman as well. With the recent success of Wonder Woman in the box office, the team at NetherRealm was proud to feature some gear based on the film in in-game multiverse events. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that a Wonder Woman character is on the way. Ares, perhaps?
We’re not done. There’s one more detail in this picture that you might have overlooked, and it could point to some Teen Titans DLC.
Starfire In Trouble?
If you look closely in the center of the image, you’ll notice a small glint of purple. Upon careful inspection, the general consensus is that this is Starfire’s leg. The original reveal trailer for Fighter Pack 1 saw Red Hood, Sub-Zero, and Starfire all coming together to fight in a room very similar to the one shown in the teaser image.
Is it possible that the Fighter Pack 2 trailer picks up where the last one left off? Since Starfire was the last DLC character revealed, we can easily imagine a trailer that shows her emerging from the previous conflict as the victor, only to meet a new and more powerful foe who overcomes her and leaves her lying in wreckage.
If that’s the case, then it’s entirely possible that the next DLC reveal for Fighter Pack 2 includes Trigon, who’s mentioned by name multiple times in the game, or possibly even Raven. We know from Starfire’s arcade mode ending that Raven left to serve Trigon, so it’s possible she shows back up as an adversary.
What do you think? Based on this image, who wold you guess we’ll see as our first DLC reveal for Fighter Pack 2?
