Pokemon Go is adding three more Legendary Pokemon starting today. The game announced that Raikou, Entei, and Suicune will be added to the game on August 31 and will travel around the world for the next three months. These three Pokemon are the “Legendary Beasts” that first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver and were known for roaming the Johto region, forcing players to chase them from location to location constantly.

In keeping with the spirit of their first appearances, each of the three Legendary Pokemon will roam around the world, becoming “regional exclusive” Pokemon for a month at a time. North and South America will get one Legendary Pokemon, Europe and Africa will get another, and Asia and Australia will get the third. At the end of the month, the Legendary Pokemon will rotate to a new region, giving other trainers a chance to catch the new Pokemon.

In addition to more Legendary Pokemon, Pokemon Go also announced the rollout of their EX Raid Battles, beginning with field testing starting next week. These “Exclusive” Raid Battles will have a beta period where select trainers can test the new feature and provide feedback to help make the experience more fun for all players. The first EX Raid Passes will be sent out soon and the first EX Raid Battle will take place on September 6. We’ll have more information on that system when it officially launches.

Keep scrolling down to find out when the next Legendary Pokemon are coming to you!

Raikou

Raikou, the most powerful Electric-Type Pokemon in Pokemon Go, will be made available to trainers in North and South America beginning August 31st. Raikou is one of the most well-rounded Pokemon in the game, with high Attack strength and strong Defense and Stamina stats. Players will want to bring a lot of Ground-Type Pokemon to counter Raikou’s awesome attacks. Golem, Rhydon, and Donphan are the best Pokemon to use to counter Raikou, with Dragonite, Exeggutor, and Nidoking acting as decent secondary counters.

Raikou will rotate to a new location on September 30 and then again on October 31.

Entei

Entei, the star of the third Pokemon movie, will initially appear in Europe and Africa from August 31 to September 30. Entei is the second strongest Fire-Type Pokemon in Pokemon Go. Players will largely want to use the same Pokemon they used to battle Moltres, although keep in mind that Entei doesn’t have a weakness to Rock-Type moves. The good news is that Entei has a mediocre Defense stat, so players should be able to dish out a lot of damage to Entei quickly.

Omastar, Vaporeon, Golem, and Rhydon are the best Pokemon to use to counter Entei, with Feraligatr and Gyarados acting as solid secondary options.

Suicune

Suicune, the star of Pokemon Crystal, will appear in Asia and Australia from August 31 to September 30 before rotating to a new region. Suicune is a Water-Type Pokemon, which means that it’s weak against Grass and Electric-Type attacks. Of the three Legendary Beasts, Suicune is the weakest and shouldn’t be too difficult to beat. With a low Attack stat, most players should be able to defeat Suicune using only their initial team of Pokemon. Zapdos, Venusaur, Exeggutor, and Ampharos are the best Pokemon to use to counter Suicune.
