For a while now, The Sims 4 players have been asking EA to shift focus from new content to fixing existing, longstanding issues with the base game. In fact, recent trailers for new expansions have been filled with comments begging the developer to address glitches and bugs in The Sims 4. Clearly, EA has been listening, and now the developer has a plan to dive deep into fixing the game and hopefully prevent new issues.

The team behind The Sims 4 recently revealed a new Quality of Life Roadmap outlining the next few months of intensive bug fixes and updates. The plan previews another Base Game Update on September 18th, pushing up the next update to allow things to settle before the Adventure Awaits expansion arrives on October 2nd. From there, EA is asking players to provide input to help them determine which fixes are most needed for the base game updates in October and November of this year. In all, the plan looks to be exactly what The Sims 4 plans have been asking for.
The Sims 4 Promises Fixes & New Free Content For All

While the road map is still promising, it’s also a bit scant on specific details about what’s getting fixed in these monthly updates to The Sims 4. That looks to be by design, as EA plans to investigate and fix issues based on votes in the The Sims 4 Bug Reports forum. EA is asking players to vote on the fixes they most want to see to help the team prioritize the most widespread, frustrating glitches in The Sims 4. That means that what ultimately gets addressed in the October update will depend on which reported bugs get the most votes.
Fans can still expect a Laundry List ahead of the October and November updates, which will outline the fixes planned for those updates. Currently, many of the highest-voted issues populating the forum are marked as “fixed” in prior updates. But a few issues are under investigation, including issues with random Milestone Moodlets cropping up where they don’t belong, ongoing issues with eyelids, and a few others. If you are experiencing a frustrating glitch, be sure to head to the EA Forums to find and upvote reports of that glitch. Or, if you can’t find it on the reported issues list, make a report of your own.

While the September and October updates look to be focused on bug fixes, November 4th is being teased as “a big day!” for The Sims 4. The update will reportedly include more fixes based on player feedback, but also “new, free content for all players.” Hopefully that new content will be working smoothly following several months of fixes for The Sims 4.
Though the Quality of Life Roadmap runs through November 2025, it ends with a note about ongoing work on the game. The Sims team encourages players to keep using the EA Forums to vote on issues moving forward, and states it will continue to allow fan feedback to “directly shape future updates and changes to The Sims 4.” In all, this is a positive step towards greater transparency and hopefully addressing some of the frustrating, lingering bugs that have plagued Sims fans for years. The first update arrives for PC on September 18th, rolling out for consoles on September 23rd for console players.
