Principal photography for Thor: Ragnarok is underway in Australia and new cast addition Tessa Thompson has joined the party. Where co-star Mark Ruffalo celebrated his own arrival with a fun video or two, Thompson shared on Instagram some fan art of herself as her character, Valkyrie, and a sober message referencing the Black Lives Matters protests taking place.

“Inspired by all the Warriors leading movements in the very real world right now,” Thompson wrote, “as I start my first day being one in the MCU for #Thor3.”

Thor: Ragnarok is the sequel to Thor and Thor: The Dark World, but is also a follow-up to the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. During the second Avengers movie, Thor received an ominous vision of Asgard falling into darkness.

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople) from a screenplay by Stephany Folsom, and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.

Principal photography on Thor: Ragnarok began on July 4, 2016, at Village Roadshow Studios in Oxenford, Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia. Filming will also take place throughout Queensland, in Brisbane, and in Sydney, and is expected to continue through October 2016.
