Urban and the other stars of Thor: Ragnarok were too busy filming the movie in Australia to appear at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016, but Marvel Studios still featured the movie during their Hall H panel. Marvel revealed a new Thor: Ragnarok logo and a mockumentary short video, similar in style to director Taika Waititi’s breakout film What We Do in the Shadow, that revealed what Marvel’s God of Thunder was up to while all of his friends were punching each other in Captain America: Civil War. Unfortunately, that video has not been released online. Still, you can get a sense of the anticipation for the film just by watching a portion of the presentation.
Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople) from a screenplay by Stephany Folsom, and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
Principal photography on Thor: Ragnarok began on July 4, 2016, at Village Roadshow Studios in Oxenford, Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia. Filming will also take place throughout Queensland, in Brisbane, and in Sydney, and is expected to continue through October 2016.
