Never has this been more appropriate a question than in Deadpool 2, where Josh Brolin as Cable may or may not look exactly like his four-color counterpart, but at a bare minimum he’ll be trying to live up to a screen-accurate Deadpool and Colossus from the first film — and a reference to Cable’s metal arm in that film’s coda.

(And it’s not a bad likeness, to be honest.)

Liefeld, one of the best-selling and most controversial comic book artists of the last thirty years, similarly mocked up Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool before the first movie, and later had a cameo appearance in the film.
