The Firefly star just posted a photo on his Instagram account, showing off a barbaric-looking costume. He claims that the still is from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 role, but that the scene was cut from the final version of the movie.
It was rumored that Fillion was playing Simon Williams – aka Wonder Man – in Guardians, but this photo doesn’t exactly line-up with the character. However, when looking back at some set photos from the Earth scene in the film, this makes a ton of sense.
Fans took some pictures of a movie theater that was part of the set, and the marquee stated that there was a Simon Williams Film Festival going on. There were posters of William’s films hanging out the wall of the theater, with Fillion depicting the lead actor in each one. This seemingly confirmed his role as Wonder Man.
This new Conan-esque look doesn’t match up with the traditional style of Williams, but the posters make sense of everything. One of the films is called Arkon, and it stars Simon Williams as a barbaric warrior. The costume Fillion is wearing in his photo directly resembles the ensemble on the poster.
Unfortunately, as the actor states, the seen was cut from the final version of the film. He does assure fans however, stating that the movie is brilliant without it.
UPDATE: Director James Gunn has confirmed, on Twitter, that Nathan Fillion never filmed a scene for the movie. Gunn stated that the actor was just clowning around on set, and posted the picture as a joke.
