This has spurred a lot of speculation about the possibility of a Wolverine and Deadpool team-up movie. There is still no official word on the idea of a project, though even Hugh Jackman has admitted that the idea has him hesitating about his decision to retire as Wolverine after filming Logan.
All that speculation got us thinking about the characters that Deadpool has played with best in the past during his Marvel Comics history. Here are five greats.
Wolverine
Let’s start with the obvious choice. Wolverine and Deadpool are two nearly unkillable Canadians and while Deadpool is not technically a mutant they both have ties to the X-Men mythos and specifically to the Weapon X program.
The two of them have spent the most time together as part of X-Force after Wolverine recruited Deadpool to be part of his mutant hit squad inย Uncanny X-Force.
Deadpool and Wolverine are a perfect comedic pair. Deadpool’s zanier antics play perfectly against Wolverine as the straight man, especially since Wolverine has a penchant for violence and Deadpool can take a pounding and keep on going.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Deadpool’s relationship with Negasonic Teenage Warhead is a newly established one, that it is already one that shows a lot of promise.
It is a relationship that was obviously inspired by theย Deadpool movie, in which Brianna Hildebrand brought the obscure mutant to life as a surly teenager alongside Ryan Reynolds’ motor-mouth Deadpool.
Marvel soon after reintroduced Negasonic into the Marvel Comics universe via Deadpool and the Mercs for Moneyย and designed her to look similar to Hildebrand’s movie appearance. Deadpool foolishly took a job to bring Negasonic into custody for a shady science company nad then quickly realized his mistake and rescued her.
For Negasonic, the fact that Deadpool actually came back for her is more important than his initial mistake. The two have bonded since then as Deadpool deals with a new Mercs for Money team that is no longer under his command.

Bob, Agents of Hydra
Bob, Agent of Hydra may qualify as the closest thing Deadpool has ever had to full-fledged sidekick.
Bob is a cowardly, meek man who only took up a job in super terrorism for the health insurance. What’s worse is that, after joining Hydra, he found out that they did not offer the full dental package being offered by Advanced Idea Mechanics.
During the era when Deadpool was working with Agency X, he stormed a Hydra base in order to rescue Agent X. Deadpool then tortured Bob into helping him locate Agent X and into flying their getaway aircraft (even though he didn’t know how). Bob became an honorary member of Agent X.

Spider-Man
Spider-Man and Deadpool’s recent history has been a bit of a roller coaster. They served together on the Avengers Unity Squad at least briefly during the eight-month periodย Secret Wars, but Spider-Man eventually quit because he no longer wanted to be an Avenger if Deadpool also was one.
Deadpool and Spider-Man crossed paths again when Deadpoolย was hired to kill Peter Parker. Deadpool only took the job because he believed Parker was secretly a supervillain, and actually succeeded in killing Parker. Twice. Realizing his mistake, Deadpool went to hell to rescue Parker.
Over time, Deadpool revealed that he really was trying to be a hero and that Spider-Man was something of a role model to him. After spending time with Deadpool, Spider-Man realized that he actually did enjoy his company and the two have bonded and established a real friendship.

Cable
Cable and Deadpool both sprung from the mind of the same creator, Rob Liefeld, so it should be no surprise that hey pair together so well.
Like Wolverine, Cable serves as a great straight man to Deadpool. However, they each share similar experiences from time spent primarily as mercenaries.
This time in the field and having to deal with the grittier, less glamorous aspects of being a superhero have turned them into brothers in arm. Even though they sometimes can’t stand one another, they always seem to have each other’s backs. Deadpool even recently traveled through time to save Cable’s life in multiple eras and completely reset Cable’s continuity inย Deadpool/Cable: Split Second, but hey, what are friends for?
Now, Cable and Deadpool both are part of the Avengers Unity Squad, arguably making them the two most unlikely Avengers ever.
