Marvel Comics has announced that the "Out of Time" story arc will conclude in the oversized Captain America#700 anniversary issue.

The issue comes from writer Mark Waid and artist Chris Samnee. The story sees Captain America becoming king of a dystopian future.

"No dream, no hoax, no lie, this IS Cap and this IS happening!" said SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort in a statement. "Guest-starring the Thing and the Hulk (or as much as is left of them), it's a celebration of 700 issues of star-spangled adventure! Plus, Mark Waid delivers an untold tale from Captain America's past, featuring the classic artwork of Jack Kirby!"

"Out of Time" comes directly out of the conclusion to Captain America #697 and finds Captain America a man out of time once again as he awakes in a cold and distant future. Cap is forced to assemble a new squad of Howling Commandos to carry on the fight for freedom.

"Everybody thought it couldn't happen again—but it has!" Brevoort said at the time the story was announced. "Once more, Cap is a man out of time—but the new era he finds himself in is fraught with perils, personal hardships, and challenges unlike anything the shield-slinger has ever experienced before. The lead-up to our big blow-out #700 issue starts here!"

Waid teased big changes for Cap when ComicBook.com spoke to him at San Diego Comic-Con.

"The through line basically is Cap is tired of being the comics, the Marvel Universe's biggest couch surfer," Waid said. He's not really had a place of residence other than Avengers Mansion for a long long time, so sort of out in America like looking, going from town to town, city to city, sort of looking for the place to land. If I'm going to be a part of America, if I'm going to be Captain America, I need to be part of the country."

Captain America #700 goes on sale in April.
