Captain America: Civil War has already built up quite a reputation, even without being seen by the majority of the public.

The Russo Brothers, directors of the highly anticipated flick, are riding that sizable momentum wave to its fullest and have picked up the rights to another project (via Deadline). The duo's Getaway Productions, in conjunction with Skybound Entertainment, have pre-emptively acquired the rights to the Atavist Magazine's series The Mastermind.

The Mastermind, written by founder Evan Ratliff, centers around Paul Le Roux, a talented programmer who also moonlighted as a cartel boss. Eventually, he became an informant for the government, and the series tells the story of his journey from one end of the spectrum to the other.

"Evan is breaking the story of one of the most successful and notorious global criminal masterminds of the 21st century – covering his rise to power, getting busted by the DEA and then turning state's witness as they piece together and dismantle his vast, disconnected global criminal empire," said Mike Larocca, President of Film and Television for Getaway Productions "We were riveted by this true crime story, its societal implications and cinematic potential."

Skybound brought it's ample experience to the fold as well with the partnership.

"We have had some experience and, happily, some success in creating fictional, serialized dramas but the opportunity to base a show on real world current events with such a fascinating if nefarious main character was certainly compelling to us."

While it's lacking any costumed vigilantes running about, The Mastermind is no less intriguing. You can see what all the fuss is about by checking out The Mastermind series here.
