Even with the controversy surrounding Iron Fist and its debut this past week, one of the constant praises has been with the portrayal of Colleen Wing by actress Jessica Henwick. In the show, Wing owns her own dojo teaching the kids of New York various forms of martial arts and thanks to a new post on Twitter tonight — it appears the actress might be just as badass as the character she portrays.
While doing some training, whether it be an older session while Iron Fist was filming or a newer one as the actress is set to reprise the role in The Defenders, Henwick managed to break the katana she was using to train. She's not called the Daughter of the Dragon for nothing.
Colleen Wing was first introduced to the Marvel Comics Universe in Marvel Premiere #19 (1974) courtesy of writer Doug Moench and artist Larry Hama. A part of the traditional Iron Fist lore, Colleen Wing has also been closely affiliated with Misty Knight and the Heroes for Hire.
Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family's legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
Marvel's Iron Fist was developed by Scott Buck. The Netflix series stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, a martial arts expert with the ability to call upon the power of the Iron Fist. The cast also includes Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
