The global action star who once appeared to be undermining the skill required for such films was apparently very close to being a part of one. While promoting Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed as much.
Revealing Marvel Studios consists of “fans” of Statham, Feige went on to say “we talked with him about doing a role in one of our movies.”
“It didn’t end up working out, his schedule didn’t work out,” Feige revealed. However, in the falling out between Marvel Studios and Statham, the hope of getting him involved with a future film remains in tact. “I was in another meeting a few days later, and my cell phone rang,” Feige said. “I didn’t recognise the number, but I answered it. And it was Jason Statham.”

“He was saying ‘sorry it didn’t work out, maybe next time,’” Feige explained. “He couldn’t have been nicer!”
As for which movie or character Statham was almost a part of, Feige was not ready to spill those beans. It’s all a bit surprising following the comments Statham once made about Marvel and other super hero films. “I could take my grandma, and put her in a cape and then put her in a green screen and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action — anybody can do it,” Statham said while promoting his Spy movie.
For now, we just have to look forward to Statham’s Fast & Furious spinoff with Dwayne Johnson and the already stacked slate of films coming from Marvel Studios.
