The ongoing saga between Deadpool and the state of Utah continues, as a judge has set an official court date for Brewvies vs the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.

The big day has been set for May 15th, 2017 by U.S. Magistrate Judge Evelyn Furse, and will take place over the course of 3 days (via Fox 13 Salt Lake City). Granted, that's if a settlement isn't reached before then, and since it's a little less than a year away, that possibility remains high. The state has agreed to not take enforcement action against Brewvies until the court date, as part of the issue on trial is the constitutionality of the law.

All of this started when the state of Utah threatened Brewvies with a revocation of their liquor license after Deadpool was shown at their establishment. In Utah, there is a law that prohibits anyone with a liquor license showing nudity or listed sexual acts, both of which the state says are in Deadpool.

Brewvies fought back and filed a restraining order against the Alcohol Control Authority, saying: "This Court should grant Brewvies's request for a temporary restraining order, a preliminary injunction, and a permanent injunction to prevent the chilling effect on free speech and the unconstitutional fine, or threat of a fine, and possible suspension or revocation of Brewvies's liquor license that will follow if the defendants are allowed to continue to punish and threaten to punish Brewvies for showing films protected under the First Amendment and the Utah Constitution."

Guess we'll have to wait until next year to see how all this pans out.
