Legion was a hit for FX and a surprise for X-Men fans, but there was one unexpected aspect that took many viewers off guard: the frequent dance scenes.

Ever since Spider-Man 3, superhero fans have been averse to the inclusion of musical numbers in there cape-and-powers stories but Legion employed the song-and-dance acts deftly. With such significance in the first season, ComicBook.com asked Aubrey Plaza if dance scenes will play a part in Season 2 during a discussion at San Diego Comic-Con.

“I can’t say, but I would say no,” Plaza said while nodding ‘yes.’ She then followed up with a wink. See the mixed message for yourself in the clip above.

Plaza’s own dance sequence took place in the closing moments of the season when her character of Lenny Busker was revealed to be a mental projection of the Shadow King. While she, and the rest of the cast, were trapped inside David Haller’s head, she took control and flaunted her power with a dance scene in which she trashed the many corners of David’s mind.

When asked about her dance scene, Plaza admitted “it was terrifying.”

“I’m not professionally trained,” she said. “My body moves in weird ways that I can’t control. So I just tried to let loose and shake it around.”

It certainly worked, as the scene was one of the most memorable in a series loaded with stunning visuals and sequences. The Bollywood-esque dance scene in the first episode, Bill Irwin’s pairing with a broom during David’s MRI, and Jemaine Clement’s orchestra conduction in one of the latter episodes were also highlights. But thematically, Plaza’s burlesque performance as the Shadow King was the most important, and best executed, in the entire series.

Hopefully we’ll see that continue when Season 2 premieres in 2018.

David Haller, a.k.a. Legion, is a haunted man with power beyond comprehension. His power does not come free, but at the steep cost of David’s mind.
