Marvel Comics have released a sneak peek at Marcos Martin’s variant cover for April’s The Amazing Spider-Man #1.You can check it out in full below.The issue sees Peter Parker return to the role of Spider-Man after about a year away while Doctor Octopus took over his body and operated as “The Superior Spider-Man.””To do that for a solid year of my life, that’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do — to look small children in the eye at a convention and lie to them,” Slott told the New York Daily News earlier today. “One of them with an honest-to-God Little League uniform and a quivering lip. Inside, part of me was dying.”

And, yes, while he may have had some traumatized children to face down, he’s well-aware that most of the public expected exactly this:
“(Parker’s coming back) just in time, fancy that, for a major Spider-Man motion picture,” quipped Slott. “It seems uncanny. It was very nice for Sony to schedule the movie around the story.”The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014. The Amazing Spider-Man #1 hits comic shops in April.
