Next year, a slew of superheroes will head back to TV, and a few characters are set to make their small-screen debut for the first time. Dramas such as Arrow and The Flash are all but expected to go another season. And, for all you Marvel fans, Legion has already received a second season order while Agents of SHIELD is expected to go on for a sixth season. With so many heroes on TV these days, it can be hard for series to differentiate themselves, but two shows are already doing good according to one report by Deadline.

Earlier today, the site posted a rundown of the early buzz tagged to shows looking to get an early series pickup. According to the site, two superhero projects look like they may get the kind of attention they want from their respective networks.

Over on Fox, anticipated for the network’s new X-Men series is high given the early success of Legion. The show, which shot its pilot under the codename Gifted, was penned by Matt Nix. And, apparently, its gritty and character-focused storyline is making good chatter.

“On the drama side, Matt Nix’s Marvel pilot looks good, with chatter about a possible early pickup,” Deadline reported.

Another contender for a series pickup is none other than Black Lightning for The CW. The network would be hard-pressed to add another superhero show to its line-up, but the network has become known for its DC Comics adaptations. In the past, the network has extended good faith to Legends of Tomorrow when the show was very much in its skeletal stages, so it’s not impossible to think the series may get a full okay ahead of time. After all, Black Lightning was bid away from Fox and it has super-producer Greg Berlanti attached to it.

“This year, the CW ordered Black Lightning to pilot at the last minute in a turnaround from Fox. Because the original script had been written for Fox, it was not used, with the project filming a shorter presentation instead,” Deadline wrote. “The presentation once again is based by a DC property and has Berlanti producing, making Black Lightning a hot prospect.”

For now, fans will have to keep a close eye on the networks to see how they react to the X-Men and DC Comics franchises. If all goes well, the two shows may crowd into a channel near you.
