Spanish director J.A. Bayona will direct the sequel to Jurassic World, according to writer/producer Colin Trevorrow and confirmed by producer Frank Marshall.
Proud to collaborate with one of my favorite filmmakers on the next Jurassic adventure. JA Bayona, it's all yours.

Bayona is best known as the director of The Orphanage and The Impossible. He is the recipient of two Goya Awards, for Best New Director in 2007 and Best Director in 2012.
Thrilled to announce JA Bayona is on board to direct JW2. Welcome to the team @FilmBayona!

Bayona will take the reins from Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World, which breathed new life into the dormant Jurassic Park franchise for Universal.
Little is known about the sequel's plot, but Trevorrow has hinted that it may take the story outside of the park. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are each expected to reprise their roles.
Jurassic World 2 is scheduled for a June 22, 2018 release.
