During an interview in support of Broken City, leading man Russell Crowe (who plays Jor-El, the biological father of Superman, in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel) discussed his take on the superhero epic-in-waiting.What’s he think? Well, that the film is apparently quite well-received at Warner Brothers and that the film will deliver a different Superman–one more psychologically complex and more action-oriented than what we’ve seen in previous big-screen incarnations.”It’s really complicated, it’s really complex. I don’t think anyone’s really tried to get into the psychology of what it must be like to be Superman,” the actor told Reelz Channel. “And [how] people would really respond in a modern society if someone like that popped up. Zack Snyder who directed Watchmen, who directed 300 and a few other things, he was given a great deal of responsibility. Because when it comes to comic book heroes and superhero films, at the top of the food chain is Superman. I think the biggest indicator for me as to how it’s looking is that the financier of the film, a lovely fellow by the name of Thomas Tull- quite a reticent man, doesn’t mince his word, he’s sent me dashing e-mails, he just loves it and thinks its going to go down really well. I’m really looking forward to seeing it. It’s a massive undertaking, the type of sets we worked on in that film were incredible. It takes you to the ground on Krypton. It takes you to a planet where the sun if four times larger than ours. I think people are going to love it and if you’ve seen the trailer, you realize that this Superman is not just floating through the air, held up by a wire. This Superman is supersonic, when he decides to fly, he doesn’t muck around. I’m really looking forward to the way people respond to it.”
