When Marvel chose to skip Comic-Con this year, many people assumed the studio was saving their big guns for Disney's D23 Expo. This weekend, Captain America: Civil War will be showcased at the annual event, but if you were hoping for James Gunn to be on hand to provide some updates on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, you're out of luck.

"I am not," Gunn responded when asked it he would be attending the event. "We just aren't ready to announce anything substantial yet for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

D23 takes place from August 14-16th at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Gunn, who directed 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, will return to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
