Underrated Tom Cruise Movie Coming Soon to HBO Max

A lot of talk about Tom Cruise lately has revolved around two of his highly anticipated upcoming films: Mission: Impossible 7 and Top Gun: Maverick. The long-awaited Top Gun sequel has been in the can for a while now, with a release slated for this year, while the newest Mission: Impossible is currently wrapping up production. While there is still a bit of a wait in store before these films arrive in theaters, one of Cruise's lesser-known movies from the last decade is making its way to HBO Max, allowing new fans to discover it.

The film in question is called Oblivion, a sci-fi movie from director Joseph Kosinski, based on the graphic novel he wrote. Cruise stars in the movie as Jack Harper, a drone technician in the year 2077 who crash lands back on an abandoned Earth that has now been overrun with aliens. The film has grown a passionate following over the years and it set to arrive on HBO Max on September 1st.

Originally released in 2013, Oblivion made more than $285 million at the global box office. In addition to Cruise, the film stars Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

If you're a big movie fan, you'll be happy to learn that Oblivion is far from the only big title making its way onto HBO Max on September 1st. Here's the full list of movies set to hit the streaming service that day:
