Diesel, who was ranked the world’s third best-paid actor (Robert Downey Jr. took the number-one spot, naturally) earlier this week by Forbes, recently spoke about his financial fortunes—both literally and figuratively—in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Diesel has made an estimated $47 million in 2015.
While Diesel enjoys his financial comforts, he was obviously more grateful than anything. As Diesel put it, the stability has allowed him to pursue the projects of his own choosing, like this falls’ upcoming The Last Witch Hunter.
“It feels good when you describe it as impressive,” Diesel explained to ET. “At some point when you reach that level of success you’re able to do things like The Last Witch Hunter that are completely original.”
Diesel has certainly worked hard enough to reach this stage in his career. Since becoming one of Hollywood’s more bankable stars, Diesel has headlined several franchises including The Fast and the Furious, Riddick, xXx, and of course, Guardians of the Galaxy
But even with a resume saturated in chase sequences and explosions, Diesel admitted that he never pictured himself as an action star growing up.
“I never started out wanting to be an action star,” Diesel said. “I started acting when I was 7, so I grew up in the theater community. When I wasn’t getting any work I started bouncing at nightclubs. Ten years of bouncing at night clubs in New York gives you something.”
Well Diesel’s case, it give you quite a bit.
Will you see Diesel’s next film, The Last Witch Hunter, when it hits theaters on October 23? Let us know in the comments!
