Ant-Man is just a few weeks away from its theatrical release, and Marvel is pushing hard on the "it's all connected" angle in their marketing. Indeed, everyone should now know that the film is part of the same universe as The Avengers.

There are a couple of ways this can manifest in the film. We know that Hally Atwell and John Slattery will both reprise their roles as Agent Peggy Carter and Howard Stark, respectively, for a flashback scene to Hank Pym's younger days. This gives Ant-Man an immediate connection to S.H.I.E.L.D., which has been the glue holding the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Anything else is pure speculation. In the comics, Scott Lang first appeared as an electrical engineer working for Stark International. Perhaps they'll throw that into the film as well.

Star Paul Rudd mentioned that the idea of having Lang fight an Avenger as a way of testing the Ant-Man suit was at least considered by the writers. We don't know if that idea made it in, but if it did then Iron Man seems the most likely opponent, given Pym's connections to the Stark family.

It's also possible that the new Avengers lineup is still recruiting. Perhaps Captain America will coming seeking out Lang to add to his new roster. It's exactly the kind of thing you'd expect to see in a post-credits scene.
