A lot of Spider-Man fans have been itching to see Peter Parker make an appearance in another superhero franchise film, be it Avengers or X-Men. Fuel was recently thrown on that fire when a teaser for X-Men: Days of Future Past was shown during the credits for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, at least until it was revealed to only be part of a business deal between Twentieth Century Fox and Sony Pictures and not the a sign of a future crossover. Despite that, Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb told MTV that, while being alone is part of Spider-Man's story, he'd still love to see a crossover happen. "A big part of Spider-Man is him being alone and having to face the problems in the world and his own problems alone," said Webb. "That's part of what makes Spider-Man so great. Certainly there's precedent in the comics for a crossover. I would love to see it as a fan. I'm not in control of that." The ones who might have more control over that kind of thing are fairly divided on the idea. X-Men: Days of Future Past producer Simon Kinberg has said that a big, multi-franchise Marvel crossover movie was a the dream, but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Amazing Spider-Man 2 producers Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad have referred to the idea as more of a last resort. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters May 2.
